The most frustrating thing for me was trying something VERY similar to the correct path and thinking this isn't right at all and then focusing on an entirely different path instead, which I thought was more likely to be the correct way. I should have just continued on building out the weird (correct) path and I would have solved this sooner! Hint for anyone who comes across this crazy level and is stuck: Don't knock it until you tried it.
I was able to eliminate a lot of potential shortcuts but there are still so many paths that get you close to 383. After a break I finally had a new idea of what could be faster and it ended up being the correct path. Amazing level.

(9-9-2022) Coming back to it after so many years. Still lots of failed attempts to get 383. Finally had some idea on what the key is and solved it. Now I can understand why it saves steps, but I can still feel how this trick surprised me in the past.
I did love it! Because it offers so many possibilities, all crazy, bringing 2 or 4 off... And the one bringing to winning is not the craziest of what I have tried! LOL. That was fun.
So far I can't beat it after 43 tries, but I've seen enough really cleverly constructed 2 off and 4 off paths to know that the final solution will be incredibly brilliant. Unparalleled level. EDIT: And I got it! Truly ingenious construction. Undoubtedly one of the best levels ever created.
Sorry for all those who beat it, but there was a hole. If you found my intended route the first time around, it should be no trouble to beat it again, otherwise good luck!
