When I struggle with a 2 off, I have a few tricks to help me unstuck the situation. In this case, I applied one of them and it worked straight on the next try. I do love that trick... :D
Really neat. Found it pretty tough to see which order of doing things and which decisions led to optimal, and a lot of variations end up 2- or 4-off. Tricky, but fun to work through.
