At least two solutions (***************************), and a somewhat messy design, but the path I found was pretty nice at least.

Messy but has a nice solution. Good work. A bit unfortunate IMO that the right side isn't tempting.

Well, the first level got pretty broken (around 20 % of the original stepcount got cut off). So, the current record path is for sure not what author had in mind. The level itself is good, nevertheless, imo.
