What the heck, went from 196 to beating it by just trying a completely different path variation out of desperation because nothing else was working on getting less than 196. Strangely enough however, as I was doing the path, everything seemed to make sense and was just fitting together nicely like perfect puzzle pieces out of seemingly random chaotic blocks everywhere. That satisfaction alone was worth the struggle this level has given me.
It had been such a work to win it 7 years ago, it was again now.
I was very far away. I then found a first major "trick" that got me straight 6 off. After that, another major "trick" got me to 4 off, and finally, a minor variation at a certain location made me win.
Such fun!
Feel like I found every possible route before trying the correct one. Not sure why I hadn't tried it sooner, definitely makes sense that it's faster. The final 2-cut is very nice as well!
(14 years ago) I like this path :)

(7 years ago) Edit: Coming back 7.5 years later after my comment, then finally beaten this level after it was fixed. Time goes.

(12-9-2022) Rebeaten. Just a small hint for others, not sure if useful or not --> lock order matters.
VERY interesting level, I had a lot in mind, while solving it. My getting closer was similar to how SirDavid describes it (in number of steps, esp.). 140 tries. :D
I keep finding things that SHOULD be big cuts but I'm always 8 or 10 off. I really don't understand this level. EDIT Now I have a 6 off... EDIT 2 off... EDIT Got it. 48 tries, truly wonderful 2-cut and great level!
Even after I found the right route, I kept getting 2 off. This is an amazing level. May even be harder than the great attractor IMO should definatly be worth 9 points.
