Took me way longer than I care to admit, but very satisfying and intuitive  solution! I am glad I stuck it out.

This is beautiful. It confused me from the start, a lot. Then I had this ''eureka'' moment where I saw something and got the number of steps MUCH lower. But it still took me some time from 82 to 76. 
Enjoyed it, a lot! If I didn't get it for testing, I'd have to take longer to solve it, here.
