Well then, first several attempts got me to 12off, coming back the next day down to 4off and that took ages.
Edit: Two months later I tried a different move and came down to a 2off. After frustrating ages I realised I was going round a block when all it needed was pushing out of the way. Sorted.
It got me as I don't know the correct way to "break through" here.
Edit: weeks and many attempts later, I,ve got it and the solution seems so simple I should be smacking my forehead repeatedly.
This kept me off solving for quite a few attempts. To me the task and path was relatively obvious but it took a while to trim down to the least steps by fine tuning the path and moves.
This had caught me at 2 off for weeks, today's initial attempts got no better till I remembered what I'd done before and somehow I got it, not sure why but I must have moved something slightly differently as the general moves are pretty much obvious. Otherwise a bit messy and a lot of the board superfluous.
