Though this level is not as hard as Forgive Me or the No Mercies it definitely has its own abstract difficulty. You either have to think analytically about its structure or get lucky to find the answer.
This a very popular level, and most love the clever trick involved in its solution. Of course, it brings up the very special situation of being "one move off".
After Amel. created this difficult level, Reach managed to find its shortest route in three tries, and stumped Amel. for a long time as he tried to find it. Most stronger players get stuck in this level for at least a short time. Few get through it the first time in less than 4 hours.
Nothing compares to the abstract challenge of Link to the Past. Few players spend less than twelve hours on it. Many give up. Many though, persevere, and encouraged by such a strong victory, launch themselves at the later levels.
It seems like a simple level to the experienced psycho, but some noobs are stumped by its trick. Some have found it so hard that they have started a thread on the forums for it. Minefield has distinction as the hardest puzzle with no moving parts.
This level teaches the most fundamental concept in psychopathian puzzles: Every move you make away from the exit, you must correct with another move towards the exit.
